Teams have until December 10th to Register
$50,000 is nothing to sneeze at if you are a college student trying to make ends meet. That’s the top prize set to be awarded to the winner of the 5th Annual World Series of Beer Pong to be held at The Flamingo January 1-5, 2011
Billed as the “largest, longest-running organized beer pong (aka Beirut) tournament in the world, created by beer pong players, for beer pong players,” the event is expected to draw thousands of fun-loving twenty-some things. Last year’s event drew over 800 participants (and hundreds of spectators) from 45 U.S. States and 5 Canadian Provinces.
Officials estimate the bridge will reduce the average trip between Las Vegas and Phoenix by more than 30 minutes.
The western hemisphere’s longest single-span concrete arch bridge officially opened Tuesday night, reducing travel times to, in and around the Hoover Dam. The Mike O’Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge is part of the Hoover Dam Bypass Project. According to the Las Vegas Sun, the bridge offers a unique view of the Hoover Dam, but only for people who get out and walk across the bridge.
As one of the '7 Modern Engineering Wonders of the United States,' the Hoover Dam has been a popular family tourist destination since it was completed in 1935. You can always drive there yourself – or get the preferred treatment from The Hoover Dam Tour Company, which offers tours from Las Vegas by bus, plane and helicopter.
It’s a Deal, but could it be Too Much of a Good Thing?
Part of the lore and lure of Vegas has always been its buffets.Harrah’s has taken the concept one step further with a new promotional push of their Buffet of Buffet’s pass, currently priced starting at $39.99 plus tax. With it, visitors gain entrée to smorgasboards at resorts including Caesar’s, Paris Las Vegas, Planet Hollywood, Bally’s, the Rio and more for a full 24 hours to eat as much as they want, any time they want.
Combine a room night (with a Buffet of Buffet’s pass included) for just $46 and this is undeniably a great deal.Forums on TripAdvisor have been buzzing about it for a few months now, ever since it was first introduced for $29.99 last spring. Are the buffet line’s long? The answer to that seems to be ‘sometimes’, but if you plan to visit the most popular restaurants during off-dining hours, you should have enough time to sample several , depending on how long it takes you to move between properties andexperience other activities in the city.
ABC News’ Scott Mayerwitz accepted the challenge of visiting all seven buffets soon after it was introduced. His report offers commentary from guests, Harrah’s reps and nutritionists, including one who actually compared the practice to the vomitoriums of ancient Rome.
Experienced cruisers and all-inclusive resort visitors have been taking advantage of the 24-hour feeding frenzy forever, and without nearly the amount of legwork it takes to move between several resorts in a short amount of time.
What’s your opinion - is this a trend you’d like to see offered in more destinations? Or is it too much of a good thing?
